Closing for now

Unfortunately we are closing our doors here in Utah as we move to a new city for my husband to pursue a medical degree and for me to have a baby. We have loved making cakes and will hopefully reopen in a few months in Albuquerque. Thanks you so much for all your support. Feel free to keep browsing our website for ideas about cakes and prices.

I use marshmallows to make my fondant, so it tastes pretty good (although I personally prefer buttercream). I loved the elegance of Megan’s cake, especially with the Christmas decor.
Estimated cost: $350

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

My husband can’t wait until he graduates. Maybe he’ll get a graduation cake like this one.

Sometimes we have to leave before the florist arrives, but you can see the effect that a cake stand has on the presentation.

We’re looking forward to fall and a busy school year, but as always, feel free to contact us with any questions or for a quote!

Baby Cakes

July has brought the opportunity to make two cakes for babies. The first is for my new nephew Kaden. He was blessed at his grandparents house a few weeks ago. Here are some pics of his cake. It was inspired by Amber’s wedding cake. Yay for Kaden, he is such a sweet little infant.

This was all that was left after the hungry guests ate their fill, I only wish I had made more!

This past weekend we got to celebrate an early first birthday for my niece Kaity. I made her a three layered pink princess cake. I especially love the pictures where the cake is as big as her. She wasn’t into destructing the cake, she mostly just liked licking the frosting daintily.

Lovely Cake

Last weekend, I made a beautiful three layer, round, buttercream cake for Becky of West Valley. I was pleased to find out what a small world we live in when I discovered my sister went to High School with Becky’s husband Bryce. I really liked this cake a lot! Here are some photos:

Congrats Becky!!

I love outdoor weddings

Take a look at the latest confection! It is definitely my favorite cake so far:

DSC02874.JPG

I’m so happy with how it turned out, especially since we were trying several new things I’d never done before: quilted fondant, sugar cala lilies, and fondant leaves. My husband made the lilies while I was finishing up the school year (by the way, Kindergarten graduation is so cute!)

DSC02866.JPG

We had a few extra lilies at the end, so we gave one to a boy there and told him he could eat it. He said it tasted a bit like a lollipop, but Sean tried one later and said it was disgusting - we’re grateful he was so polite anyway :) Now we know: sugar flowers may look great, but don’t try eating them.

We took one last picture of the cake and scene as we waved goodbye to our latest confection. Everything looked amazing! I wanted an outdoor wedding so bad, but I thought it would rain for sure. I’m glad this reception worked out, though!

Congrats, Sharlene!

Miri's Cake

About Miri's cake:
  • 4 layer fondant cake
  • I used fresh flowers to match hers
  • Ribbons completed the ensemble
  • Cost: $350
Miri's review:
My wedding cake was a four layer fondant, and it was gorgeous. I stopped worrying about the cake as soon as Jennie said she would do it, and it made the wedding planning so much easier--she even chose the ribbon for it, and it was exactly what I hoped it would be! If I were ever planning another wedding, I would absolutely have Jennie make the cake. She is a fantastic artist and I bet you will LOVE working with her.

Sam's Cake

This was one of the first cakes I made, and it was extra special because it was for my sister, Sam. :)

About Sam's cake:
  • 4 layer fondant cake
  • I went all out on this cake, since Sam is my sister!
  • It had about a dozen yellow sugar roses (and some bonus forget-me-nots)
  • Ribbons adorned the bottom of each layer
  • Approximate Cost: $350
Sam's review:
For several years I had known that Jennie would be making my cake.  When the time came, we had so much fun planning.  I told Jennie the flavors I wanted, as well as a rice crispie base and she took it from there.  I especially loved that she incorporated my love of yellow roses onto the cake.  Bonus: I was able to pull off the roses and give them to all the little kids around after we were done smushing cake on each other!

Marci's Cake

About Marci's cake:
  • 3 layer buttercream cake
  • I used fresh flowers she got with her bouquets
  • Ribbons to match her wedding colors (of course!)
  • Cost: $180
Marci's review:
I am so glad I had Jennie make my cake! As I'm not super cake savvy, she went through all the options and what might look good with the colors and feel of my wedding. And it turned out fantastically! I thought this was a very 'me' cake, with just the right blend of classy and fun. And after talking to other girls about their cakes it turns out the price was way more than reasonable. Thanks again, Jennie!

First Bake of the Season

I’ve made my first cake for 2010 and I think it turned out pretty well! Take a look:

With Amber’s cake I got to try out something I had never done before: polka dots!

I’m usually a fan of ribbon, but the buttercream dots really fit in with this theme. The cake had a 6“ and a 10” layer, one of funfetti and the other chocolate. It was definitely a fun confection to make, and it looked amazing when we got to set it at the reception:
